Thanksgiving On Through To Christmas

As usual for the last two months of the year, things get quite busy. In spite of our attempts to keep from getting too frazzled during the holiday season, we still can't seem to keep completely unaffected. I've not been very active online as a result. But never fear, here's the catch up entry!

Megan and Kianna at Thanksgiving Dinner

Kianna, Wella and I all trecked up to Las Vegas to visit my parents and my sister's family one week earlier this year. The week of Thanksgiving we visited with Wella's oldest brother in Suisun City in the Bay Area. We all had a wonderful time and had lots of very yummy food to eat.

On the way back from Las Vegas we finally stopped at Calico Ghost Town as we have often said we would. It is a real ghost town just outside of Barstow, California. I learned that it is affiliated with Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park. It makes sense that it would be considering how similar the themes are in the parks. Although Calico is really not very large a place, it is packed with history and it's nice to see it being preserved.

Princess Kianna and Grandpa Mitchell

Kianna was much more interested in Christmas and its traditions this year. She really enjoyed the Santa Claus stuff. She came to Wella about a week ago and asked how Santa was going to get into our house seeing as we don't have a fireplace. Wella was caught off guard and said that he comes through the back door.

When I found out about this I just couldn't let it alone. I reminded her that Santa Claus gets into our house through our living room sky lights. Kianna upon hearing this correctly surmised that Santa accomplishes this by a slight touch of his nose and just the right amount of magic. I was very proud of her =)

I thought it was touching on Christmas morning. I was just about to make a pot of coffee and Kianna runs out of the bedroom all excited about evidence of Santa's visit. She glanced over at the Christmas tree then came to me and asked if it really was Christmas morning. I said yes it was and with a crack in her voice and about to cry she asked, "but where are all the presents?". They were there but she just didn't notice the extra pile of them. I quickly demonstrated to her that Santa did indeed bring her the presents that every good girl should get on a Christmas morning and we all proceeded to do the Christmas morning mambo. I can't tell you how blessed we are to have such a wonderful family and just how thankful we are to the Lord.
