I've been putting a bunch of work into theflowerbuds.com this last week. The basic design has been done for a while now but we are really fleshing it out now.

theflowerbuds.com

All of the text has been rewritten and an entirely new gallery section was added. One of the problems with the earlier version was that it did not adequately show just how beautiful their work was. The gallery should leave no doubt about that.

Another thing that needed rework was my popup script for the larger images. I had written it to work with HTML 4.0 but I wanted to bring it more in line with XHTML 1.0 so now I'm including that dtd in the page and not using tables for aligning the text below the image. I also modified the resizing code so the window adds a margin to the image. I think it has a nicer look to it now.

I still have to add a flower quote fade/slideshow thingy for the main page. I'm going to work on adding one to the bugLib and borrow it so I can kill two birds with one stone.

I'm using some of my new bugLib code to craft a virtual slide rule object. This is just one of several components I need for a new wallpaper/digital imagery page I'm trying to create. I have the photoshop design pretty much finalized but the underlying code has been a LOOOOOONG time in the works. There's more there than I realized but I believe that doing the code in this more maintainable and reusable fashion is going to pay off in the future. Stay tuned for previews and such as it gets closer to fruition.

I wasn't sure if my Site Search would index my Gallery installation. I just successfully crawled the Circus Circus photo album so this means that visitors will be able to get to any section of the gallery from the home page using the search feature there.

Very cool!

New Photo Album ==> Circus Circus February 28, 2004 ! ! !

This is NOT a debut, so hold all the comments about how icky this thing looks. I'm getting the functionality in place. Please do let me know if there are any problems seeing or navigating the gallery and I'll be working on making it look a little nicer.

Wella is hard a work getting all the photographs organized and I'll be uploading new sections as that is completed.

I am pretty happy with this gallery code from http://gallery.sourceforge.net/

A good friend of mine, Suho1004, has an excellent web site that is celebrating its first year on the net.

Visit liminality.org

His writing style is engaging and very rich. I understand that his site has recently gotten a fair amount of attention in Korea and I am happy to see it is getting more recognition.

Happy Birthday, liminality.org, here's wishing many more productive years to come.

I've been getting a lot done behind the scenes.

1. I've installed a gallery section to this site that will be live very soon. It will allow Wella to upload pictures much easier than what I had set up before. She should be able to keep the Kianna pics coming a lot more regularly as a result. Another cool feature is that it links the pictures you like to printing services online that will print out the snaps you like best. I think it's something like 29 cents per print; very reasonable.

2. I've been working on an integrated Dynamic HTML library. This code library will allow anyone to configure a web page using some of my specialized scripts. I am scripting it such that virtually every item or object will be compatible with one another. For instance, you will be able to add any number of image swapping routines and customized buttons and all the page events and mouse coordinate processing will work in concert.

One of the problems with DHTML do-hickies is that you usually can't mix and match them without them breaking one another. Well, when I'm done, that will be a problem of the past.

3. I upgraded my site search script and cleaned up its look to be consistent with the new minimalist homepage. It's a very nice script that allows me to index my entire site much like any search engine would and pull up results for those hard to find items on bugimus.com

4. I am making an open appeal to any and all to consider Justice for Pat Richard. I have dedicated my homepage to helping out his cause until such time as we see justice served in this matter. Please take a moment to review the situation at http://www.justice4pat.com/

5. I've made myself much more available online for my good friends. I am now regularly on ICQ and YIM in the mornings PST. I want to keep up this trend to stay more focused on what is important in this world; relationship.

6. Did you know bugimus.com is P3P compliant? I don't even know if compliant is the right word, but I do have a privacy policy outlined on the site. If you are using IE, then you can go to bugimus.com and choose View > Privacy Report... and you will be able to view my official privacy policy. It's kind of neat but basically useless for now, but it's a way to help maintain a nerdy disposition.
