Today is Hallween, my second favorite holiday next to Christmas. Wella has dressed Kianna up as a pumpkin and we are going to a Halloween party. It should be really fun, especially with our little pumpkin.

Just because I haven't posted for a few days doesn't mean I haven't been taking more pictures.

What's this lesson I spoke of? Well, we realized that chocolate and caffeine keeps baby up but we now know something that makes her very uncomfortable. If mom eats foods that normally causes gas, yeah that kind of gas, then it transfers right to baby through the milk.

We did know about this and so Wella was avoiding onions, broccoli, etc. But I'm a vegetarian and I eat that fake ground beef that is made with soy beans and wheat gluten. It turns out that is even a worse flatus catalyst than the other foods I just mentioned. Well, after a meal of spaghetti and this veggie ground round, the next day baby was extremely fussy and had mucho gas! If she hadn't been so upset it would have been a lot funnier.

So make sure to add veggie ground round to your lists of foods to avoid whilst breast feeding, LOL!!!

I just about laughed myself to death when I got home from work tonight. Is this position hilarious or what?

Last night I added a new section to the BugCam. Now I will capture some of the spontaneous shots from the BugCam when me and baby are there and collect them on the BabyBugCam page.

Check out what I've got so far: BabyBugCam!!!

I just wanted to get this picture linked because it is just so nice. Wella and Kianna Well, I'm still up with baby and it's 3:40AM. That girl cried for a couple of hours before I could finally get her to sleep. She's been that way for the last couple of days Wella tells me.

Our pediatrician told Wella to avoid any and all chocolate because he says it makes the babies fussy. Have any of you heard this before? I never had but Wella has been drinking a bunch of chocolate milk the last week. Connection?

Right now Wella is getting some well deserved shut-eye. It's Friday night so I can stay up longer. I'm just about ready to throw in the towl though. I really strained my lower back a couple of weeks ago and it is just now getting *seriously* sore and I'm going to need to lay down to relieve it.

It's been 15 days since this little bundle of joy started crying her guts out for us. She's a cutie of that there is little doubt but she is also a little baby with lots of needs. Regular feedings, regular diaper changes, burping, comforting, doctors visits, etc.

Kianna just had her first check up Thursday and the doc said she's doing just fine. Thanks to a good friend we found a great pediatrician near our home. He said Kianna has almost gained back all her original birth weight and she has grown half an inch since birth. This is all welcome news to her parents, of course.

He also remarked about how alert of a baby she is. I have nothing to compare that to because I avoid other people's children. I took his word for it but she does seem pretty aware of her surroundings. She really opens her eyes wide and takes a good look around when she's awake. See?

So how is the adjustment process going? I would say very well. We knew to expect big changes and so that really helped us to prepare.

Here's how it works on days when things work "the way they should": Wella takes care of baby starting around 1AM. I get a good night's sleep and get up to go to work. Wella's parents pop by mid morning to give her a break and some support. Wella sleeps during the day when Kianna is sleeping.

So then I finally get home around 6:30PM. At that time we have some dinner and spend some time together, Wella, Kianna, Sheena, and me.

Then Wella goes to bed and can sleep uninterrupted 'til about 1AM when it starts all over again. I can take care of baby just fine at night because I know how to feed her myself and anything else that comes up (pun intended!).

I have completed Kianna's bio page for bugimus.com Please take a look as it has a few new pictures there.

Kianna Lynne Mitchell's bio page

I haven't posted here for a few days. Our sleep patterns are different, as expected. It is not easy taking care of a newborn but the good news is that it is only temporary. Kianna is doing very well and so is her mom. Kianna has a very healthy appetite and seems to be a pretty happy baby.

When she starts getting hungry she wants to suck. Just for fun I've put her fingers in her mouth to try... that's cute but then my mom told me that my dad used to try to get me to suck the tip of his nose when I was a baby. So I had to try it. She fell for it! I laughed so hard I nearly passed out. Not only was it hilarious that she did it but it really tickled! Of course, it didn't take her long to kick her crying up a notch once she learned she wasn't going to get any milk that way.

We bought Wella a gliding chair and matching footstool this afternoon. My parents have been visiting so they took care of Kianna while Wella and I got out to the store. It was good to get some fresh air and be out of the house for a bit. Wella really loves her chair and so does Kianna as she gets rocked to sleep now.

Wella isn't quite ready to take Kianna out for long periods of time yet so I'll be going to church tomorrow and Wella and Kianna will take one more Sunday off. I think we'll be ready to all go to church next week. I know people there are anxious to see her... in person and not just on the web.
