Kianna as Princess ArielHalloween was fun this year. Kianna had a costume picked out for the last several weeks and it was a princess, of course. Princess Ariel, the Little Mermaid, to be exact. She *really* loves that character and so do all her little cousins and friends.

You can see larger images in Kianna's Fourth Year Album

Kianna learned how to make jack'o'lanterns at her preschool and they even took a field trip to a local pumpkin patch. When she got home that evening she explained to me how the eyes in a jack'o'lantern must be triangles.

On Halloween night, I got home early because our local mall was having some festivities for the little kids. It turned out really well because in addition to the stores handing out goodies many of the city's organizations had booths set up for with games and candy. Kianna had a lot of fun playing the bean toss and ring toss games.

I was not in costume myself (even though I had dressed up earlier in the day as Space Ghost) but I was playing the "extremely proud father". Why? Well, just about every other person that walked by commented on how cute Kianna was in her Little Mermain outfit. In fact, there were countless princesses there but not one other was dressed as Ariel and so Kianna's red wig and green fins really stood out. I had never really been that proud as a father and I hope there are many other opportunities to feel that same way in the coming years.

On the way home Kianna melted both of her parents' hearts when she said, "This is the best Halloween ever". We topped off the evening with watching the Nightmare Before Christmas which has become an annual tradition at House Bugimus.

Dean as the HamburglarA friend of mine really out did himself this year. He told me he had a "great" costume and I figured it was going to be "good". But when I saw the pictures I realized it was actually "fantastic!". He was the Hamburglar! I think the key to choosing a good costume is to pick one that will catch people off guard and resonate with them. It's very much like telling good jokes actually. I thought this costume was so well done because I doubt very many people have ever seen anyone dress up like the Hamburglar and McDonald's is so ingrained in everyone's psyche that it was destined for greatness from its inception.

I was so inspired by this costume that I volunteered my services in cutting and pasting the "DeanBurglar" onto a screen shot of the Hamburglar's Hideout. He fits right in there, eh? The Hamburglar may be looking for new employment pretty soon if he's not careful.

Way to go, Dean, I can't wait to see what you come up with next year. Do you think you can possibly top this?
