My task: find an IDE focused on javascript and ajax.

I found Aptana and Dojo.

Aptana.tv is sweet to see it in action.

I will continue to look but these tools seem pretty spiffy.

We went up to Vegas and visited the relatives. We had good food and a good time. My mom's back is really giving her trouble but she's hanging in there. My dad's memory problems are still getting worse but he's taking some medication that's supposed to help. Sue and Ed are doing fine especially since Sue is so excited about retiring at the end of the year. Brent and Rachel are busy raising Sam and he's a real smart kid but definitely has a mind of his own. Kianna brought the orange BeeBah that Robin got her for Christmas and danced with it.

Highlights for me were finally taking my Tahoe off-road for reals. My brother-in-law took some photos of us out there because he was sure no one would believe me if I told them. We had a really great time and did some shooting while we were out there. That sure did feel good. I haven't been out like that for way too long.

I just noticed that Google, Yahoo and MSN have agreed on an XML standard for submitting sitemaps. I'm going to explore this a bit more.

It looks as though I've been away from my personal page for some time now. In reality I'm not far away I'm just really busy learning and doing things in the background. Over the last few years I've focused my skills on graphics and javascript in it's many flavors. I decided it was time for me to take on some new technologies and get a handle on them.

To that end, I've begun the plunge into "Web Services". That is the latest buzz word that looks good on the resume. I'm still not thrilled with becoming a "server guy" and don't really plan to. However, I do want the ability to operate in that realm. My passion still lies on the client-side and the GUI. The newer technologies are making robust web-centric GUIs not only possible but preferable to applications that just a few years ago could only be done properly with C++/Java applications.

I like starting off with basics and W3Schools Online Web Tutorials is a good place to start.

Occasionally I plan to use the BugLOG as a notepad of what I'm learning and reading up on. If the links seems disjoint it's most likely because they are ;-)

Web Application Vulnerabilites trump Buffer Overflows

I was aware of XSS (Cross Site Scripting) but it wasn't really on my radar screen. I didn't realize how big a deal it had become.

E4X... is a new extension to JavaScript, adds direct support for XML to JavaScript, is an official JavaScript standard.

These are my ramblings and they are mine.
